This week we are launching the first in a series of “We Ask Our Experts” posts. In this series of posts, we focus on our customers and our friends in the business community. The concept is to pose a series of quick questions to known experts in the various industry verticals. For today’s post, we spoke with James Wall from 3D Technology Ltd.
What does your company produce?
3D Technology/MedScan3D provide 3D printers, 3D Scanners, 3D printed parts and patient-specific anatomical models from surgical planning and medical device testing.
Have you seen a shift in the way people are utilising technology over the last 12 months?
Yes, we have. The 3D printers we provided to our customers have been utilised to 3D print PPE, respirator ports and R&D to fight COVID-19.
Have you noticed any recurring theme in the questions you’ve been asked by your customers during the last 12 months?
We have had a lot of companies contact us asking how they can utilise their machinery to assist in the production of PPE.
What is the most positive thing to have happened for 3D Technology / Medscan in the last year?
We had volunteers assisting in the weekly production of PPE that was donated to nursing homes.
How do you see your industry changing in the coming year?
I think our industry will get back to normal over the next year except I see meetings staying virtual as people are growing accustomed to the efficiency virtual meetings provide.
What is the number one thing you wished people knew about your company?
Based in Galway and happy to assist companies on their R&D journey.
