Emla began her journey with us here at Call Pal at the beginning of 2018 based with the team in our Galway office. She has most recently relocated to New Zealand maintaining her marketing role with Call Pal.

Utilizing tools such as Microsoft Office 365 and Rainbow Cloud Communication Emla and the team have been able to seamlessly work together as if she never left. Designed to enhance communication not only between the Call Pal team but also allowing us to manage our virtual clients, these tools are vital to our day to day operations as a virtual company.

How are you finding working remotely Emla?



It has been a pretty seamless transition so far. Communicating with the team has never been easier as we continue to work together as if I never left. Stephanie, local girl from Galway has been a part of the Call Pal team for over a year now and is currently in her last year of a HDIP in computer science with Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology.

Providing front line support daily to customers in Call Pal, she will now transition into learning the engineering of telecoms with our sister company Avita Communications as well as offering support to both our Call Pal team and customers.

Tell us a bit more about your business and what you can offer your customers?

Blackhall Pharmacy is an Irish-owned independent pharmacy situated on Ellis Quay in Dublin city and we are looking forward to celebrating 13 years in business this Christmas.

As well as dispensing all prescriptions we offer a range of other health services including ‘flu vaccinations, blood pressure and health checks, emergency contraception, monitored dosage systems and medication review and management.

Our pharmacy team is always on hand to offer expert advice in a professional and supportive manner.


What is the most rewarding part about the work you do?


The best thing about my job is the patient contact. As community pharmacists we develop relationships with our patients and help them manage their chronic conditions. This can be very rewarding and gives great job satisfaction to our pharmacy team.




What is your goal for 2019? Personal or business related!


Retail pharmacy is continuously evolving, as are the needs of our customers.

Our goal this year has been to build our social media presence and to launch a new web-store take24.ie which will offer our best-selling products at a 24% discount. We expect the website to go live next month. Watch this space!!

Another goal for Blackhall Pharmacy was to source a cosmetic range for our customers that does not contain artificial preservatives. We are now the proud stockists of the Avene skincare range. This pharmacy-only brand gives expert dermatological care for sensitive skin.

On a personal note, my own goal is to run a half-marathon before next summer. The Connemarathon half is in my sights!

What is the most rewarding part about the work you do?

We get great satisfaction in exceeding our client’s KPI’s objectives and revenue growth.  But my personal favourite is creating solutions that have real-world implications. We created a mobile App which is being rolled out into the healthcare system in the USA. It connects into hospitals electronic health record systems and the federal drug database. This allows patients to keep an accurate record of their medication history. It joins disconnected records between different hospitals together to create a singular accurate real time record.

It has the potential to save hundreds of thousands of lives every year in the US alone.

Our goal for 2019 was to implement LEAN process into our workflow – we have been working on continuous improvement on the efficiency of our process.  It’s been a great experience and we had support from the Galway LEO to do this.  We have also been looking at export markets for our services and have progressed to Enterprise Ireland for support on this.  It’s going well so far with a number of new clients in the US & UK.

What a fantastic night we had at our Summer Party! The night was a perfect blend of an excellent venue, great music, food, drink and company. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We would especially like to thank O’Connell’s Bar for the use of their newly refurbished venue, The Dough Bros for the delicious food, Aoife Kenny from Bash Event & Project Management for all her help planning and managing the event and Lisa Regan from Lisa Regan PR for her assistance and oversight of the public relations side of the event. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Ciara has lived in Galway for the past four years and is currently completing a Masters in Publishing in NUI Galway. Outside of work she is is interested in travelling and photography. In her previous job, she worked as a receptionist and administrator in Kingsbridge Hospital, Sligo. All calls are answered in the client’s company name by our professionally trained and qualified receptionists. Call Pal acts as an in-house PA and callers can either leave a message with the Call Pal PA or can be forwarded to the clients extension. The client will have the option of taking the call or asking us to take a message which is sent straight away via text or email to them.
